Palliative & Supportive Care Clinic
About
The Palliative Care and Supportive Care clinics are two of the out-patient clinical services of the Center for Palliative Care. Located at the McDonald Clinic, physicians in a broad range of disciplines participate in the care of patients with chronic life-limiting illnesses who may be under active treatment or completed with treatments.
The Supportive Care Clinic is a multi-disciplinary clinic session involving physicians with expertise in Palliative Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehab, Internal Medicine, and Nutrition with an emphasis on patients with cancer. Team members involved in patient care include nurses, psychologists, and a registered dietitian. This clinic is an active teaching environment as well with fellows, residents, and students in both medicine and nursing participating in the patient care. A specialty program for cancer patients experiencing unintentional weight loss is also available at this clinic.
The Palliative Care Clinic serves a similar population of patients but also includes patients with diagnoses of Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Dementia, etc. Physicians in this clinic are trained in a variety of specialties including Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and Psychiatry and have expertise in symptom management and Palliative Medicine.

Referrals
Referrals to the either of these clinics may be made by any treating physician, RN, or by patient self-referral. A broad range of insurance coverage is accepted and scheduling can be flexible according to patient needs and other concurrent treatments. Currently, clinic sessions are held on Wednesday mornings and afternoons and Friday mornings.
