The UAB Center for Palliative Care will hold its seventh annual event, “Passion for Compassion,” on Friday, January 30th 2009 at 6:00pm.
The event will honor Louis and Wadia Josof for their tireless advocacy and generous support of our program and the patients we serve.

The UAB Center for Palliative Care has received funding from the Health Resource and Services Administration (HRSA) for the Alabama Geriatric Education Center Grant Program. This program will train health professionals in medicine, nursing, physical therapy, psychology, dentistry and social work in the following Institute of Medicine identified priority areas: advanced illness, frailty, care coordination, symptom management, medication management, ethnogeriatrics, and health literacy/self management. The UAB Center for Palliative Care has been selected as one of eight training sites for the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine Clinical Scholars Program. This program is designed to provide a focused clinical experience in hospice and palliative medicine to physicians. Read the full press release.
Dr. F. Amos Bailey, Director of the Birmingham VMAC Safe Harbor Palliative Care Unit and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has been named to the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM).
