Community and Giving

At the UAB Center for Palliative Care, we believe that patients and families need a different type of care when facing advanced illness. Because we know that disease is not merely physical, we offer care that uses a whole-person approach, focusing on the relief of physical, emotional, spiritual and social suffering. Our goal is to create a care plan that meets the unique needs of every patient, with a fundamental objective of improving the quality of life for our patients.

Many of our patients benefit from our supportive care services, including psychosocial support and counseling, art and complementary therapy, bereavement services and nutrition support, all of which are funded through philanthropic support.

In addition to philanthropic support, we also rely on members of the community to support us through our Community Advisory Board and Annual Fundraiser Committee.
