The mission of the UAB Center for Palliative Care is to serve patients and families experiencing life-threatening, life-limiting, or advanced illness.
Our vision is to provide compassionate clinical care, demonstrate leadership in teaching health professionals and trainees, conduct collaborative palliative care research, and influence advanced illness health care delivery and public policy.
We believe that patients and families need a different type of care when facing advanced illness. Because we know that disease is not merely physical, we offer care that uses a whole-person approach, focusing on the relief of physical, emotional, spiritual and social suffering.
Our goal is to create a care plan that meets the unique needs of every patient, with a fundamental objective of improving the quality of life for our patients.
