At the UAB Center for Palliative Care, we believe that patients and families need a different type of care when facing advanced illness. Because we know that disease is not merely physical, we offer care that uses a whole-person approach, focusing on the relief of physical, emotional, spiritual and social suffering.Our goal is to create a care plan that meets the unique needs of every patient, with a fundamental objective of improving the quality of life for our patients. In addition to our dedication to clinical care, we are committed to demonstrating leadership in teaching health professionals and trainees, engaging in collaborative research, influencing health care delivery and public policy, and developing strong relationships with community partners.
